IBM System i Courses for Operators and Administrators

This fundamental course provides the basic and intermediate knowledge for the daily operations and administrative work on IBM System i, using both IBM navigator and emulator 5250. It includes hand on exercises on job control, monitoring, sending messages, managing systems devices, objects save and restore, bouncing the system and first level of incident management.

This advanced course is designed to enhance the knowledge of an IBM i System Operator providing the concepts of how LPAR works, the different types of security authorization on data access level, the user and group profiles management, security lists, and inherit authorizations. Additionally, it offers advanced hands on exercises in CL programming and menu creation using application development tools like PDM, SEU and SDA.

This course offers the basic knowledge about the functions and the components of IBM's DB2 relational data base, explains the characteristics of a DB2 table and the basic concepts of data modeling and provides the information for the responsibilities of a data base and system administrator. With many hands on exercises the course provides instructions to generate simple and SQL statements including ADD, REMOVE or CHANGE functions.

This advanced course is designed to provide extensive knowledge for system monitoring using the DB2 administrative tools and SQL routines, for managing the system performance and disk space assigned in a database, and for implementing automatic storage management for table spaces.
